The Best of 2016
Tommy James’ Best of 2016
Did that really just happen? A whole year has gone by in a flash. 2016 has been a busy year for me. I’ve gone weeks without a weekend with my family (and yes the wife and kids give me stick for it) but it’s my job and my biggest passion and I always make sure missed time is made up for. This year has seen some amazing weddings, beautiful venues and incredible couples. I have to say I had a couple of favourites this year, one being Pendrell Hall located in Wolverhampton, stunning stately home with a very modern but quirky look. It was extremely bright and airy which allowed us to capture a good selection of beautiful images for the lovely Jamie & Lara. (A few of these are featured below, the first three images and then 3-4-5-6 rows).
Jamie & Lara were great to work with, so relaxed and welcoming with a great bunch of party-goers to celebrate with. Then my second favourite was the Nelsons wedding that took place at the St John Moore Foundation in Twycross. Driving up to the cast iron gates and seeing the pastel balloons swaying in the breeze looked amazing. I mean dressing a venue inside takes a lot of effort but doing the outside too is pure dedication. It looked fantastic and made great photo opportunities. With the building being an old school it had so much character about it, it was hard to get my head around how it is now a wedding venue. Their wedding was like a summer breeze, from beginning to end it was perfect. Weddings are all about love and togetherness, and with that comes emotion. Now us men don’t always show our emotions but when we do sometimes it’s uncontrollable. My friend Will got married this year and I was honoured when he asked me to capture his beautiful day to his lovely bride Louise. I remember standing at the front of the church carefully watching him as he patted dry the tears rolling from his eyes, from seeing that I myself felt emotional. Now obviously this turned into an amazing ceremony where love was the highlight of the day f and this fantastic atmosphere carried on into the evening reception. It’s horrible sometimes when I do images for friends and family as I don’t get to enjoy the day as I would if I was a guest but then that overwhelming feeling of knowing I will provide them with the best memories makes all the pints of coke worth it. All in all, 2016 was busy as ever and I ended the year on a high ready to smash 2017. I’ve put together a selection of my favourite images below so put your feet up and take a look.
